Our mission is to broaden and reshape the existing narrative by shining light on stories that reflect today’s America. Since our launch in March, our in-house team of producers and directors have worked hard to do this. We covered important social issues in our Sea of Change series. We highlighted important historical figures left out of history books in Hidden Figuras. We celebrated authentic identities with our Be You show. We told stories about living between cultures in Folkslore. We don’t plan on stopping, but we need your help!
We want to highlight your own storytelling about underrepresented experiences, and support young filmmakers all over the country. To do this, we’ve teamed up with the Audience Awards and are excited to announce our first Pilot Competition for a chance to win a 6-episode series funded and distributed by BESE.
The style and format is open. Your film can be a documentary, experimental, even light-hearted comedy—but the concept should be big enough to become an evergreen series. Although the series should be rooted in Latinx themes, we are open to working with all kinds of filmmakers telling stories around our programming pillars: Nation, Culture, and Identity. Submissions are due by November 20, 2018.
