The Cuarentena Cure: Beat Quarantine Boredom by Streaming Online Concerts, Workouts, and More

As cities all across the United States continue to implement strict but necessary self-quarantine orders as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak, it doesn’t mean you can’t entertain yourself while staying in. We’ve gathered a list of live stream events, online fitness classes, and meditation courses you can participate in from the comfort of your home. 

Fitness 

City of Angels Boxing
The Los Angeles-based boxing gym is run by pro-boxer, Alex Brenes. The gym advertises itself as being the best boxing gym for anyone serious about training and seeing results like a pro boxer. The gym also regularly hosts accessible classes for disabled participants. They are currently offering free classes through Instagram Live at 12 pm and 6 pm PST daily.

AArmy LA & NYC
The boutique fitness center is run by former celebrity Soul Cycle instructors, Angela Manuel Davis and Akin Akman and focuses on bootcamp-style classes, and indoor-cycling sessions in Los Angeles and New York City. Although the fitness center had to temporarily close their doors, they have opened their classes up to their online community by broadcasting classes online via Instagram Live. CorePower Yoga
CorePower Yoga is one of the largest yoga studio chains in the United States. The studio has also been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak and has decided to close its door. But they are still offering CorePower Yoga on Demand and meditation courses so that you can continue your practice while at home.

The Burrow
The Burrow is offering free online fitness classes through A Hot Life app. You can tune in and catch an at-home workout with two of their coaches.

Tone House
Tone House in New York City has closed its doors. But the athletic-based group fitness studio is still offering free home workout videos through Instagram TV and YouTube. 

Down Dog App
The yoga app is free until April 1st as a response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Users will be able to download Down Dog, Yoga for Beginners, HIIT, Barre, and 7-Minute Workout to pass the time and stay on track with their fitness goals. 

Salsa Lessons
Dance instructor Danella Dutton will be hosting online salsa lessons through the Zoom app. Students must sign up for classes at a lowered rate and follow along. These classes begin at 7 pm PST.

Babes of Wellness
Online personality and fitness instructor, Kat Novoa, will be offering a 30-day online at-home workout to her followers for 55 dollars, and private coaching lessons. The package includes workouts and
guided meditations. 

Concerts and Events

Charlie XCX
Charlie XCX will be hosting Instagram Live streams with special guests Christina and the Queens, Rita Ora, Diplo, Kim Petras, and Clairo throughout the week. The streams will include chats, art classes, personal training, and more. It all begins today at 5 pm UK time. 

Alejandro Sanz and Juanes
Latinx musicians, Alejandro Sanz and Juanes teamed up for a live stream performance after having to cancel shows in Colombia last week. The performance was called La Gira Se Queda En Casa and is currently available on Youtube. 

Ben Gibbard
Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard announced that he will be live streaming on Youtube and Facebook from his living room. The series will feature musical guests and Gibbard will be taking song requests from viewers. The series began on Tuesday and will continue throughout the week. 

Save with Stories
Amy Adams, Jennifer Garner, Natalie Portman, Jimmy Fallon, and other celebrities are joining together for #SaveWithStories a children’s storytelling series aiming to provide children with fun and educational entertainment, while raising money for the Save the Children and the No Kid Hungry organization. 

Watch with Wuti
Women Under the Influence has curated a list of films and accompanying panels that viewers can watch on their Youtube channel. Many of the films can be viewed on the Criterion Channel like, “Losing Ground,” “Lions, Love,(…and lies),” “Boys Don’t Cry,” and more.  

Cuarentena Fest
A group of artists have joined together for Cuarentena Fest. The live streamed concert series will feature local artists from Spain who will be performing live from their living rooms throughout the week. 

Hinds
Indie-pop group Hinds is giving their fans a fun activity to do while the band remains quarantined in Spain. The band released tutorials to their songs, “Come Back and Love Me” and “Linda.” Fans can now play along and pass the time learning some of their favorite songs.

Ultra Virtual Audio Festival
Sirius XM will be launching the Ultra Virtual Audio Festival on UMF Radio on Friday, March 20th. The festival was originally scheduled to be in Miami. It will feature performances from Major Lazer, Martin Garrix, AfroJack, and more.

Movies On Demand
Universal Pictures will be releasing films like, “The Invisible Man,” “The Hunt,” “Trolls World Tour,” and “Emma.” The films, which recently premiered at the box office, are now available for rent through Amazon, Comcast, Sky, and Apple as a response to theaters being shut down in many cities across the United States affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.  

Metropolitan Opera House
The Met Opera is launching its “Nightly Met Opera Streams” after having to cancel upcoming shows due to the coronavirus. The streams will feature free encore presentations of Bizet’s Carmen, Puccini’s La Boheme, and more. Performances begin at 7:30 pm EDT and last all week. 

Meditation

Insight Timer
Insight Timer calls itself one of the largest free meditation libraries on the earth. The website currently has a guided meditation to ease coronavirus anxiety that you can practice while at home. 

Jay Shetty
Former Buddhist Monk and Purpose Coach Jay Shetty is starting a 20 Day, 20 Minute Live Stream Meditation on Friday, March 20th. The free stream will be broadcast on Instagram, Facebook and Youtube and begin at 9:30 am PST.
